This article will explain how to configure include and exclude rules for Google Instant Sync. Google Instant Sync must be configured to synchronise your users to the platform. Our knowledge base article here will explain how to do this.
You can also use our knowledge base below, which will explain how to view/edit your Google Instant sync rules.
Please note, only one Active Integration should be added to an account. If you require multiple Active Integrations, please contact your Customer Success Manager or support@phishingtackle.com about enabling the Partner Portal.

Domains
By default, Google Instant Sync will synchronise all available domains verified in your Google Tenant. It's more efficient to only include the domains you want to import (e.g., phishingtackle.com) than to exclude the domains you don't want to use (e.g., phishingtackle.onmicrosoft.com, etc.). If you have multiple domains, you will need to list each on a separate line.
Groups
You may have a requirement to either include or exclude specific groups. If you want to import specific groups, you can specify these by adding the group email address to the Groups To Include and Groups To Exclude sections of the Active Integration settings. Please specify only one group per line.
The tool synchronises with Google Mailing and Security Groups. Dynamic groups are not supported. Indirect memberships, such as nested groups or groups within groups (e.g., distribution lists), are also not supported; only direct group memberships will be synced.
Recipients
As with domains and groups, you can include as well as exclude specific recipients. Simply add the recipients email address into the 'Recipients To Include' and 'Recipients To Exclude' section of the Active Integration settings. Please specify only one recipient email address per line.
Exclude follows include
Please be mindful that all exclude rules are processed after the include rules. This means any include rules that you have set in your Active Integration settings will be processed before any of the Exclude rules that you have set.
For example, if you have recipients in multiple groups within Google Instant Sync, be aware that if one of their groups is excluded the recipient will not be imported.
Manually imported recipients will Be updated but not duplicated
If you previously added your recipients to the platform using a manual process (creating the recipient in the platform individually or using a CSV file), those recipients will be updated with any new information that Google Instant Sync holds, including group membership.
Google group names will become tags
When you create a group within Google Instant Sync, the group name will be transferred to the platform in the form of a tag. Any recipients added to the group will have the tag assigned to them, and this is visible when viewing the recipient in the recipients list located in the address book.
If the group name already exists in the platform as a tag, the new synchronised tag will be shown with a synchronized logo attached to it.
Management of recipients when using Google Instant Sync
After configuring Google Instant Sync, we recommend managing your recipients through Google Instant Sync rather than the Phishing Tackle platform. Any changes to a recipient account via the platform will simply be removed with the next synchronisation and replaced with the details that were assigned to the recipient previously. Adding tags to recipients can still be done via the Phishing Tackle platform, but for any other changes, we do recommend doing so through Google Instant Sync.
Configuring a synchronisation delay
Within the Google Instant Sync settings, you have the choice of whether to delay your synchronisation times. For example, if you want to add a new user to a group before the user is synced into the active recipients list in the platform, you could set a sync delay time of 5 minutes. This will add the new user to the archived recipients list until the delay time is over. This gives you time to add the recipient to the group, and when the 5-minute delay time has passed, your recipient will be added to the active recipients list with the group tag assigned to them.
