Some training quizzes have a maximum number of submission attempts. This guide explains what you will see on your training course page and in the quiz window.
Where you take training: My Training - Course list (your assigned training course)
Before you begin
- Not every quiz has an attempt limit. If there is no limit, you can submit the quiz as many times as needed until you pass.
- An attempt is counted when you complete and submit the full quiz (not while you are still answering questions).
- Once you pass the quiz, you cannot take it again for that course.
Part 1: Find your quiz on the course page
Step 1 - Open your training course
- Sign in to your account.
- Go to your Training or My Courses area (as shown in your organisation's menu).
- Open the training course that contains the quiz.
Step 2 - Locate the quiz on the timeline
- On the course page, find the quiz item in the content timeline.
- If your organisation has set an attempt limit, you may see a line such as:
- 2 of 3 attempts remaining, or
- No attempts remaining (2 of 2 used) if you have already failed out, or
- Passed (used 1 of 3 attempts) if you have already passed.
Step 3 - Open the quiz
- Click the quiz icon or poster on the timeline to open the quiz window.
Part 2: Take the quiz while attempts remain
Step 1 - Read the attempt banner (if shown)
- When the quiz opens, you may see a message at the top of the quiz, for example:
Attempt 2 of 3 - 1 attempt remaining. You must reach the pass mark before your attempts run out. - This tells you how many submissions you have left.
Step 2 - Answer and submit the quiz
- Answer all required questions.
- Complete the quiz using the normal Complete / submit control in the quiz.
- Your attempt is counted when you submit the full quiz.
Step 3 - Check your result
- If you reach the pass mark, the quiz is marked complete on your course timeline (green / completed style).
- If you do not pass, you may be able to open the quiz again until you have no attempts left.
- The attempt line on the course page updates to show how many attempts you have used or have remaining.
Part 3: When you have no attempts remaining
If you use all allowed attempts without passing, the quiz is locked.
Step 1 - See the lockout message on the course page
- On the course timeline, the quiz attempt line may show No attempts remaining in red.
Step 2 - Open the quiz (locked state)
- If you try to open the quiz again, the quiz window opens but the survey is not shown.
- Instead, you will see a red message explaining that you have used all attempts and did not reach the pass mark.
Step 3 - Contact your administrator (if shown)
- Some organisations allow administrators to reset your attempts.
- If reset is enabled for your quiz, the lockout message may include:
Please contact your administrator if you need another attempt. - If that sentence does not appear, your organisation may not offer attempt resets — contact your usual internal IT or training contact for guidance.
Part 4: View your answers (if enabled)
Depending on your organisation's settings, you may be able to view your submitted answers after completing or attempting the quiz.
- On the course page, look for View quiz answers under the quiz item.
- Click to expand and review your responses.
