White labelling Phishing Tackle is very easy to do and can be a powerful way to create the user experience that you want. This article will guide you through the different stages of the process to get you up and running.
How to access your white label settings
The image below shows how to do this as a primary admin:
- Click the profile menu (your name) in the top right-hand corner.
- Click "Whitelabelling".
If you are unable to see the whitelabelling option, it probably means your account is not yet enabled for this feature. Please speak to your account manager about adding whitelabelling.
How to White Label Phishing Tackle
Each stage of white labelling has been outlined below, we recommend you read through each stage if you are unfamiliar with the process. Otherwise, you can skip to the relevant section below:
- Stage 1 - DNS Records
- Stage 2 - Look & Feel
- Stage 3 - Platform Emails
- Stage 4 - Training Courses
- Stage 5 - Training videos
<
Stage 1 - DNS Records
Why do I need a CNAME record?
A CNAME record is necessary to allow Phishing Tackle to use your white label properties. The CNAME record will mask and direct traffic from your chosen URL to the Phishing Tackle root domain. For example, "SAT.phishingdemo.com" will be discreetly directed to "whitelabel.phishingtackle.com".
Before you can create a CNAME record, you will need the ability to modify DNS records for your organisation's domain. If this is not possible, we suggest contacting the appropriate person who can perform this.
STEP 1 - Add a CNAME record to your DNS
The CNAME record will need to point to the following URL:
whitelabel.phishingtackle.com
For example, if you want your users to access the URL SAT.phishingdemo.com, the CNAME record would need a value of SAT and a target of whitelabel.phishingtackle.com.
You can use any subdomain you like. Here are some examples:
- learn.yourcompany.com
- education.yourcompany.com
- training.yourcompany.com
If you use the Partner Portal (Managed Service Provider or Reseller), add an additional CNAME record:
The managed CNAME record will need to point to the following URL:
-
managed.phishingtackle.com
You can open managed organisations in a separate browser session, to do this you must add another CNAME entry with a Value of "managed" (without quotes).
STEP 2 - Specify the domain used in the CNAME entry
Next, you will need to specify the domain that is used in the CNAME entry. Inside Phishing Tackle, please only specify your domain without the A record. (Please note this is case insensitive. For example, phishingdemo.com)
STEP 3 - Specify the full URL to be used when accessing the platform
You will now need to specify the URL that you want your users to type to access the platform. (Please do not include the protocol, i.e., "HTTPS". This is case insensitive. For example, sat.phishingdemo.com)
STEP 4 - Add an SPF entry to your DNS TXT Record
The following SPF entry will need to be added to your existing/new SPF record within your DNS. This is to ensure our server is authorised to send on your behalf and allow account registration/training emails (sent using your domain) to be delivered successfully.
v=spf1 include:_spf.tacklephishing.com ?all
Tip: While we recommend using "?all" because it's the least intrusive qualifier, you should use whichever qualifier you are comfortable with.
Please note: Ensure you include the underscore before "spf.tacklephishing.com" and note the reverse order of the Phishing Tackle name.
Please check your domain host's documentation on adding SPF records as any errors may cause issues and cause rejections of your email.
STEP 5 - Check your DNS settings
Once you have added the CNAME record and our SPF record, please click the button "CHECK MY DNS SETTINGS". The platform will then check for the CNAME record you created and the SPF entry.
Please note: The platform will only check that our SPF record exists and will not check for SPF configuration and validation errors.
STEP 6 - Notify Phishing Tackle about the changes
Once these steps have been completed, please let us know by clicking the button "THE ABOVE STEPS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED". This will notify the Phishing Tackle support team of the changes made and allow us to make the server-side changes for you. (Please note this can take 1-2 business days to be completed once sent.)
Stage 2 - Look & Feel
Once Stage 1 (above) is complete and propagated, you'll see all changes saved below updating in real time.
Phishing Tackle allows you to create a unique login experience within the look & feel section for your users. This can be achieved by using images, custom messages, and descriptions which can all be added or removed to help increase ease of use.
