The amount and rate of malicious text messages being sent is constantly rising. To help alleviate this risk you can prepare your users by creating your own SMS messages. This will help them gain experience of what a real-world threat would look like. This article will show you how to access pre-made templates and create your own.
How to edit a pre-made template
Follow the steps below to edit a pre-made template.
- Under Phishing in the left-hand column click "Templates".
- Click "SMS Messages".
- Click the template title or the edit icon.
How to create a new SMS template
Follow the steps below to create a new SMS template.
- Under Phishing in the left-hand column click "Templates".
- Click "SMS Messages".
- Click "Add New Template".
How to use the SMS message template editor
The SMS message editor provides you with the necessary tools to create Smishing templates. By using placeholders and relevant topics you can quickly create and deploy realistic Smishing messages. Our full guide on how to create a Smishing campaign can be found here.
- Description
- Enter a description for the SMS message template.
- Tags
- Select a tag(s) to assign to your template.
- Device preview
- Select a device to preview what an end-user will see.
- The available device models are Apple iPhone™ or Samsung Galaxy™.
- From
- IMPORTANT: To track replies from your recipients, leave the from field blank.
- Placeholders
- Select a placeholder from the dropdown menu to use.
- Placeholders allow you to reference data stored elsewhere. Our full list of available placeholders can be found here. Note, not all placeholders are available in SMS templates.
- Message body
- Enter a message, this will be sent to your recipients.
- Landing page
- Select a landing page to direct the recipient to when they click the link in the message.
- Link Domain
- Select a domain that will be displayed when the [[PhishHookURL]] placeholder is used.
- Save
- Click save when you have finished creating your template.
